FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE – The Cypriot Ministry of Health is urging that children, adolescents, and adults who are not fully vaccinated to receive the MMR vaccine to prevent the spread of measles and avoid a potential epidemic.

In a statement, the ministry advised travelers to ensure they are vaccinated according to the National Vaccination Program. It also highlighted that those visiting relatives or attending large gatherings face heightened risks of contracting the virus.

Individuals who have been in close contact with someone diagnosed with measles, even without showing symptoms, are encouraged to consult their doctor.

Cyprus recorded 27 measles cases in 2024, mainly linked to imported instances. So far in 2025, 11 cases have been reported, prompting renewed calls for vigilance.
