Cyprus is bracing for continued heat this week as seasonal low pressure and warm air masses remain locked over the region, according to the Department of Meteorology.
Temperatures Monday were expected to peak at 41 degrees Celsius (105.8 Fahrenheit) inland, with coastal readings reaching 36 degrees along the east and south, 33 degrees on the west and north coasts, and 32 degrees in mountainous areas.
Winds were forecast to shift from southeast to southwest at light to moderate strength (Beaufort 3–4), later becoming southwest to northwest. Stronger gusts (Beaufort 5) were likely on windward coasts. Seas were expected to be slightly rough to rough.
Overnight conditions remained mostly clear, with northwest winds easing to Beaufort 3–4 and temperatures dropping to 25 degrees inland, 22 along the coast, and 19 in the highlands.
The forecast for Tuesday through Thursday indicates continued clear skies and steady temperatures, remaining above seasonal norms.
Authorities advised residents to avoid outdoor activities during peak afternoon hours and to monitor official guidance during the extended heat period.
