Dana Gas, the UAE‑based private natural gas company, announced it has struck new reserves at its North El‑Basant‑1 exploration well in Egypt’s onshore Nile Delta.
Preliminary results show the well contains between 15 and 25 billion cubic feet of gas.
Production is expected to reach at least 8 million cubic feet per day once connected to the national grid.
Dana Gas is the largest private natural gas producer in the Middle East. According to Egyptian media, the company said the discovery adds to its portfolio in Egypt, where it has been expanding operations.
