Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said Donald Trump is the best friend Israel has ever had in the White House.
He was speaking at a press conference in connection with Secretary of State Marco Rubio’s, whom Netanyahu also referred to as a friend, visit to the country.
Netanyahu said the US and Israel are cooperating closely on Gaza and share a vision.
‘I am confident that, in partnership with, with Trump and with you, Marco Rubio, we still have our best days ahead of us,’ he beamed.
A ceasefire agreement between Hamas and Israel came into effect in January of this year. On Saturday, the sixth prisoner exchange between the parties to the conflict took place.
Netanyahu said the “gates to hell” would open if all hostages were not release and emphasized that Israel would still achieve its goals with the war in the Gaza Strip, and eliminate Hamas’ military capabilities.
Rubio emphasized several times that Israel is America’s close partner and ally, and that President Trump is working closely with Netanyahu to ensure that the remaining Israeli hostages in Gaza are released.
“Hamas cannot continue militarily or as an authority. They must be eliminated,” Rubio added.
