The Sovereign Base Areas Police marked a double milestone with a passing‑out parade for officers completing their probation and an attestation ceremony for new recruits.
The event at the Officers’ Mess in Episkopi drew senior SBA officials, Cyprus Police representatives and family members.
Sixteen officers — 12 men and four women, both Greek and Turkish Cypriots — from the February 2023 intake formally passed out after finishing a two‑year probation combining academic study, operational training and frontline service. They are now confirmed in rank and will continue serving across the SBAs.
Temporary Superintendent Maria Atalioti, who oversaw the training, said the program was “demanding and rigorous,” designed to ensure officers meet the highest standards of professionalism.
“The journey has been challenging,” she said, “but it is with great pride that we confirm our recruits have successfully completed their probationary period and are now Police Constables.”
Greek Cypriot PC Vasilis Ntirris, 23, of Larnaca, said the training gave recruits “the knowledge, experience and mindset needed to serve.”
“We now fully understand the responsibilities of this role and are equipped to deliver the highest quality of service to our communities,” he said.
Turkish Cypriot PC Buse Kochak, 35, of Nicosia, echoed the sentiment, calling the completion of training “a proud milestone” shared with her family and colleagues.
The ceremony also welcomed eight new Greek Cypriot recruits from the January 2026 intake, who now begin their probationary service.
Atalioti added: “We congratulate our newly recruited officers on their attestation and warmly welcome them into the SBA Police family.”
