The Meteorological Department has issued a fresh yellow warning for high temperatures, in line with earlier forecasts.
The warning will come into effect today, Thursday, at 2pm and remain in place until 4.30pm the same day, according to the department’s announcement.
Meteorological officer Panagiotis Ligis said the weather had begun to change from Friday, with instability and isolated rain expected in the mountains, spreading gradually inland.
These conditions are likely to intensify somewhat over the weekend, bringing a drop in temperature after highs of around 38 degrees.
Mr Ligis said any rain and storms would be limited in both intensity and extent, and that temperatures would settle at roughly normal levels for the time of year.
On humidity, he said levels had been somewhat elevated in recent days, though not enough to cause any problems.
