FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE – Temperatures across Cyprus are expected to exceed 40 degrees Celsius (104°F) starting Friday and continuing into the middle of next week, with some inland areas possibly reaching as high as 44°C (111°F), meteorologists said.
Andreas Chrysanthou, a senior official at the Meteorological Service, told CyBC Radio that coastal regions will also experience a noticeable rise in temperatures.
Humidity levels are forecast to drop gradually, increasing the risk of wildfires, Chrysanthou added.
Authorities are urging the public to take precautions against heat-related illnesses and fire hazards.
