China is set to consolidate its role as a global leader in technology and green development during its 15th Five‑Year Plan from 2026 to 2030, a Russian scholar said.
Tlesh Mamakhatov of the Russian Academy of Sciences told Xinhua that China’s 14th Five‑Year Plan from 2021 to 2025 brought “a qualitative transformation of the Chinese economy” and progress in living standards, education, healthcare and social welfare.
He noted major shifts in energy consumption, with greater use of renewables and natural gas alongside declining emissions. China has pledged to accelerate its green transition in the next plan, adopted in October by the Communist Party’s Central Committee.
“This will strengthen China’s position as one of the global leaders in the technological race — in high technology, artificial intelligence — and green development,” Mamakhatov said.
He added that China is expected to continue supporting the multilateral trading system, expand cooperation and investment opportunities, and deepen ties with the Global South.
