Family Says Football Great Kevin Keegan Diagnosed With Cancer

Former England forward and national team manager Kevin Keegan has been diagnosed with cancer, his family said Wednesday in a statement to Sky Sports.

Keegan, 74, was recently admitted to hospital after what his family described as persistent stomach symptoms. Further tests confirmed the cancer diagnosis, and he will begin treatment soon.

“The examinations have revealed a cancer diagnosis, and Kevin will now undergo treatment. The family asks for calm and privacy while he focuses on this,” the statement said.

Keegan is regarded as one of the most prominent figures in English football history. He was a key part of Liverpool’s dominant teams of the 1970s and later became closely associated with Newcastle United, both as a player and as a manager during two separate spells.
