FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE — More than half of Finnish export companies want the European Union to introduce retaliatory tariffs against the United States, according to a recent survey released by the Finland Chamber of Commerce.
The poll found that 51% of Finnish exporters support countermeasures mirroring U.S. trade restrictions, which they say are placing significant strain on their businesses.
Trade uncertainty is weighing heavily on exporters, with 86% of surveyed companies reporting negative impacts from U.S. policies.
Technology-sector exporters have been hit particularly hard, with new orders nearly grinding to a halt, according to a separate industry survey.
Despite ongoing trade tensions, optimism about export growth has increased. Some 64% of respondents expect exports to rise this year, up from 47% in the same period last year.
