Cyprus police carried out intensified overnight patrols across urban areas, making five arrests as part of targeted crime‑prevention operations, authorities said Thursday.
The arrests involved offences including illegal possession of property, drug‑related violations and traffic offences. During the operations, officers stopped 730 drivers and checked 280 vehicle occupants. Police also inspected 37 premises, issuing four citations for various violations.
Traffic enforcement produced 345 complaints, including 164 for speeding. Three drivers tested positive in preliminary drug‑driving checks, while one driver tested positive for alcohol. Seven vehicles were seized as part of ongoing investigations.
Police said the coordinated operations — combining increased patrols, targeted checks and rapid response — will continue daily to deter crime, protect the public and maintain order.
