FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE – A search is underway for four American soldiers who went missing during a military exercise in eastern Lithuania, the U.S. military said Wednesday.
The soldiers, along with their vehicle, were last seen on Tuesday afternoon during tactical training at the General Silvestras Žukauskas training ground in Pabradė, less than 10 kilometers (6 miles) from the Belarusian border.
The U.S. Army Communications Office in Wiesbaden, Germany, confirmed the soldiers were participating in scheduled exercises when they disappeared.
Lithuanian broadcaster LRT reported the incident, prompting a large-scale search operation involving Lithuanian and foreign troops, as well as helicopters from the air force and border guard.
The Lithuanian Defense Forces stated that a “possible location” for the incident has been identified, and efforts to locate the soldiers are ongoing.
