FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE — A 26-year-old German backpacker who went missing in remote Western Australia has been found alive after surviving nearly two weeks alone in the outback.
Carolina Wilga was reported missing on June 29 near the town of Beacon, about 254 kilometers north of Perth. She was discovered Friday by a passing motorist on a regional road.
Police said Wilga was exhausted, dehydrated, and suffering from minor injuries, including cuts and bruises, but was otherwise safe.
Authorities praised the motorist’s quick response and said Wilga is receiving medical attention. Officials have not provided further details about how she survived during the ordeal.
