FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE – Russian President Vladimir Putin is not genuinely interested in peace in Ukraine and is merely stalling for time in negotiations with the United States, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius said Tuesday.
Speaking ahead of a meeting with European Union defense ministers in Brussels, Pistorius emphasized the need for Europe to ramp up pressure on Moscow. He called for additional sanctions, particularly targeting Russia’s energy sector, as a means to counter Putin’s strategy.
Pistorius’ remarks come amid ongoing diplomatic efforts to address the conflict, with European leaders weighing further measures to support Ukraine and deter Russian aggression.
