On Tuesday, over 450 passengers were reported to be held hostage by armed men on a train in southwestern Pakistan.

Muhammad Kashif, a senior railway official in Quetta, confirmed the incident, which took place between two tunnels in the Bolan district as the train was en route from Quetta to Peshawar.

The train driver was injured during the attack, government spokesman Shahid Rind told the Associated Press.

The militant separatist group Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) has claimed responsibility for the attack, but this has not yet been confirmed by Pakistani authorities.
