Halloumi leads as the top export product in north Cyprus

Exports from northern Cyprus reached $176 million in 2023, with halloumi leading as the top export product.

According to the “statistical service” , Turkey remained the largest export market.

Exports increased from $87 million in 2019 to $176.2 million in 2023, showing significant growth over the years.

Halloumi has been the most important export product throughout the past five years, with exports increasing by 38.8% in 2019, 35.5% in 2020, 27.9% in 2021, 32.2% in 2022, and 34.2% in 2023.

Citrus products, including tangerine, mandarin, clementine, and orange, followed halloumi in export significance.

Non-hazardous metal waste and cheese and curd were also notable export products.

Exports to Turkey surged from $52.1 million in 2019 to $126.8 million in 2023.

Other significant export destinations included Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and the United States.
