Hungary’s consumer price index rose an average 4.4 percent in 2025, the Central Statistical Office has said.
In December, prices were up 3.3 percent from a year earlier and 0.1 percent from November.
The sharpest annual increases were recorded in electricity, gas and other fuels, which climbed 8.9 percent. Alcohol and tobacco rose 7.1 percent, while services increased 6.8 percent.
Food prices were up 2.6 percent, and an 8.6 percent drop in motor fuel prices helped ease overall inflation.
The Ministry for National Economy said the government will continue efforts to contain price growth, including extending and expanding price‑margin caps on selected products through Feb. 28, 2026.
