Israel Drops Tariffs on U.S. Imports

FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE –  Israel announced Tuesday the removal of all tariffs on U.S. imports, a move hailed as a gesture to bolster diplomatic ties rather than economic reform.

Most U.S. goods are already tariff-free under a 40-year trade agreement, with remaining tariffs, mainly on agricultural products, valued at about 42 million shekels ($11.4 million) annually.

The decision, awaiting parliamentary approval, coincides with speculation over U.S. President Donald Trump’s potential tariff measures on trade partners.

Israeli officials said the move could strengthen bilateral relations and reduce living costs.
