FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE – A Jet2 flight from Edinburgh to Larnaca was forced to divert to Greece on Sunday after a disruptive passenger, reportedly intoxicated, caused disturbances onboard, leaving holidaymakers stranded for hours.
Flight LS721 departed from Edinburgh Airport in the afternoon but was rerouted to Thessaloniki after the crew decided the situation was unsafe to continue.
Footage shared with The Scottish Sun showed Greek police boarding the aircraft upon arrival and speaking to passengers.
Officers reportedly removed the individual from the flight after complaints that he had repeatedly pressed his call button, demanded faster service, and became aggressive toward both crew members and fellow passengers.
Eyewitnesses described escalating tensions, with one passenger saying the man attempted to confront another traveler who had tried to diffuse the situation.
Jet2 has not issued an official statement on the incident, and it remains unclear if the removed passenger will face charges under Greek law. The flight later resumed its journey to Cyprus.
