FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE – British Bases and Cyprus National Guard (NG) sharpshooters shared expert knowledge during a week-long firearms course in Episkopi.
The Combat Marksmanship Development Course saw Non-Commissioned Officers from both the Bases Resident Infantry Battalions hone their skills with pistols, rifles, and shotguns.
Improvement rates topped 80 percent day by day.
Captain Brian Trainer from BFC’s training department praised the collaboration. He highlighted the exchange of teaching methods and practices with the National Guard and SBA Police, emphasizing the value of shared expertise.
“The Cyprus National Guard have sent their sniper instructor along to the course, and we want him to see how we have set the course up to benefit the young soldiers attending,” he said.
“This course for the instructors is all about sharing good practice. They are all champions of their trade and for the NCOs on the course, it is a great opportunity for them to sit across from these guys and learn.”
The National Guard senior instructor expressed enthusiasm about the joint training, noting the benefits of learning from structured teaching methods and comparing approaches.
The collaboration aims to foster interoperability and continuous improvement among the forces.
