A federal judge has refused to grant the Associated Press (AP) temporary access to the White House while its lawsuit against the Trump administration is being processed in the courts.

The AP filed the lawsuit after its journalists were denied access to White House press conferences and other events.

President Donald Trump justified the ban, stating that the news agency continues to use the geographical name “Gulf of Mexico” instead of his preferred “Gulf of America.”

On Monday, Judge Trevor McFadden, a Trump appointee, denied the AP’s petition to restore full access to the White House press box and Air Force One. The court hearing took place in Washington.

The AP is expected to comment on the matter on Tuesday night.
