Justice and Public Order Minister Kostas Fytiris expressed deep emotion and pride during a visit to the frigate Kimon, a vessel bearing a name of significant historical and symbolic weight for Hellenism and the sea.
Fytiris said Kimon — whose legacy is tied to the security and freedom of Cyprus — remains a timeless symbol of strategic insight and naval strength. He added that the modern warship carrying his name continues that tradition by contributing to security and stability in the Eastern Mediterranean.
As a Greek Cypriot minister, he conveyed gratitude to the Greek government and the crews of the Hellenic Navy for their dedication, professionalism and strong sense of duty.
Fytiris, a former naval officer, said he felt pride seeing the enduring values that shape naval officers: honor, discipline, camaraderie and unwavering commitment to their mission.
“Hellenism in Greece and Cyprus can feel safe knowing you serve with integrity and determination,” he said, wishing the crew calm seas and success in their operations.
