FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE – U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services Robert F. Kennedy Jr. announced plans to cut $500 million in vaccine development funding, affecting dozens of projects aimed at combating respiratory illnesses.
According to the Department of Health, the cuts will impact 22 vaccine initiatives, including those targeting COVID-19 and influenza. Pharmaceutical companies such as Pfizer and Moderna are among those affected.
The funding reduction primarily targets research using mRNA technology—a platform that played a key role in the global response to the coronavirus pandemic.
