Talks between US and Russian envoys on Ukraine will begin in the Saudi Arabian capital Riyadh on Tuesday, the Kremlin confirms.
A top-heavy American delegation consisting of Secretary of State Marco Rubio, US National Security Advisor Mike Waltz and Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff headed to Saudi Arabia on Monday.
The Russian delegation will be led by Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, Russia confirmed the same day. Vladimir Putin’s foreign policy advisor Yuri Ushakov will also be taking part in the talks.
The statement from the Kremlin also states that Russia is positive that discussions are now underway on how to stop the war Russia started with the full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022.
