FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE – The Larnaca District Government Organization has intensified efforts to curb illegal water use, warning that fines will be imposed on violators.
Starting this week, authorities will fine individuals using hoses to wash sidewalks, roads, terraces, railings, and vehicles, according to an announcement from the organization.
The measure is enforced under the Water Saving (Special Measures) Law (Law 1/1991), in response to prolonged drought conditions that have depleted water reserves.
Cyprus has been facing a severe drought, with water levels critically low and rainfall far below normal.
