Tremor felt across several neighbouring provinces; no reports of damage or casualties so far
A magnitude 5 earthquake struck Turkey’s Adana province on [date], according to the country’s disaster management authority, AFAD. The quake was felt in surrounding provinces, and no negative reports had been received in its aftermath.
AFAD said the quake was centred in Adana’s Saimbeyli district and struck at a depth of 7km.
In a statement posted to its NSosyal account, the authority said the tremor, which hit at 4.02am local time, was felt in Adana, Kahramanmaraş, Osmaniye, Kayseri and Gaziantep. “As of now, there is no negative situation,” the statement said, adding that field surveys were continuing. AFAD offered its wishes for a swift recovery to those affected.
Adana’s governor, Mustafa Yavuz, speaking to TRT Haber after the quake, said authorities were in contact with all relevant institutions. “There is no negative report of any kind, and teams are continuing their field surveys,” he said, adding that crews would resume checks in the morning. Yavuz said the earthquake had not been felt in central Adana itself.
