FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE – Former Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad criticized U.S. tariff policies under President Donald Trump, warning they would “hurt America more than the rest of the world.”
In a statement, Mahathir highlighted the U.S.’s reliance on imported goods and argued that tariffs would raise living costs, wages, and production expenses, ultimately weakening global competitiveness.
Mahathir predicted potential unrest, stating, “There will be a lot of demonstrations. It will not become great.”
He added that domestic production costs would make U.S.-made products uncompetitive in global markets.
