A man who pointed a gun at Argentina’s former Vice President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner and pulled the trigger was sentenced Wednesday to 10 years in prison.
Fernando Sabag Montiel, 38, aimed the weapon at Kirchner’s head while she greeted supporters outside her home in Buenos Aires in September 2022. The gun did not fire.
Montiel’s former girlfriend was sentenced to eight years for aiding in the attempt.
