Cyprus’s Meteorological Service has issued a fresh yellow warning for extreme heat tomorrow — the third such alert in a row — as the prolonged heatwave continues to pose health risks for vulnerable groups, including children and the elderly.
The warning will be in effect from 1pm until 4:30pm, with inland temperatures expected to reach or exceed 41°C.
The heatwave continues to grip much of the Mediterranean, with temperatures across the region climbing as high as 42°C.
Cyprus’ heat wave is straining both residents and hospitals, with emergency rooms reporting a surge in patients suffering from heat exhaustion, sunstroke and dehydration.
Most cases involve older adults and other vulnerable groups, as well as outdoor workers exposed to high temperatures for hours.
