Authorities in Monaco on Wednesday urged residents and social security beneficiaries to get vaccinated against seasonal influenza as cases begin to rise ahead of the holidays.
The government said vaccination remains the most effective way to prevent severe illness, complications and transmission, particularly among vulnerable groups such as people over 65, those with chronic conditions, pregnant women and individuals with obesity.
Officials also reminded the public of basic protective measures: regular handwashing, ventilating indoor spaces, wearing masks when symptomatic, using disposable tissues and avoiding close contact with vulnerable people when ill.
Vaccines adapted to circulating strains are available in pharmacies across the Principality, where people can be vaccinated directly or obtain doses through their doctor or nurse. The flu shot is covered for Monaco’s social security beneficiaries.
