Police carried out overnight patrols across Cyprus, arresting eight people during targeted operations aimed at preventing serious crime and increasing public safety, authorities said Monday.
The arrests were made for a range of offences, including possession of drugs, possession of stolen property, driving under the influence of alcohol and outstanding court warrants.
During the operations, officers stopped 566 vehicles and checked 688 people.
Police also inspected 29 premises, issuing three citations for various violations.
Traffic checks resulted in 351 citations, including 174 for speeding.
Twelve drivers were reported for driving under the influence of alcohol, and five cases of driving under the influence of drugs were recorded following roadside narcotests.
Eighteen vehicles were seized as part of ongoing investigations.
Police said the coordinated operations will continue daily, with increased patrols and targeted checks aimed at preventing crime and maintaining public order.
