Nordic, Baltic nations to launch cybersecurity consortium

Seven Nordic and Baltic countries will establish a joint cybersecurity consortium to strengthen defenses across the region, Lithuania’s National Cyber Security Center said Thursday.

The NBCC will include Denmark, Estonia, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway and Finland. Officials said the project will create a regional data‑sharing platform, expand analyst teams and develop joint threat assessments.

“Cyber threats do not respect national borders, so closer cooperation is essential,” Lithuania’s Vice‑Minister of Defense Tomas Godliauskas said.

The consortium will also pursue advanced technologies, including artificial intelligence solutions, and foster collaboration among governments, businesses and research institutions.

Funded partly by the EU’s Digital Europe Programme, the initiative has a budget of about 14 million euros ($16.4 million) and will run from 2026 to 2029. It will be headquartered in Copenhagen and coordinated by the Danish Resilience Agency.
