More than 100,000 Cambodian villagers fled their homes to safe zones as border clashes with Thailand entered a fourth day, a defense ministry spokesperson said Wednesday.
Lt. Gen. Maly Socheata, undersecretary of state and spokesperson for the ministry, told reporters that 101,129 people had been displaced, including infants, children, pregnant women, the elderly and people with disabilities.
She said the Thai army had deployed heavy weapons, including F‑16 fighter jets, in attacks on Cambodian military positions and civilian areas from Sunday afternoon through Wednesday morning.
At least seven Cambodian civilians were killed and 20 others wounded in the fighting, according to Socheata.
