Police seize 7 kilos of drugs — including synthetic cannabis

Police seized more than 7 kilos of drugs — including a large quantity of powdered synthetic cannabis known as “Kif” — during an operation in the free Famagusta district, arresting two men, authorities said.

In a statement, police said it is the first time such a large amount of Kif has been found in Cyprus, noting that new types of narcotics have been appearing on the island in recent months.

The cannabis resin and powdered synthetic cannabis were located in a field belonging to a 49‑year‑old man, who was arrested. A 28‑year‑old man, found to be living illegally in the Republic, was also taken into custody.

Both suspects are expected to appear before the Famagusta District Court for remand orders.
