FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE — Airlines from Asia and the Middle East dominated the 2025 Skytrax World Airline Awards, with Qatar Airways named the world’s best airline in the annual passenger-voted ranking.
Singapore Airlines placed second, while Hong Kong-based Cathay Pacific Airways rose to third, improving from fifth place in 2024.
China’s Hainan Airlines entered the global top 10, climbing from 12th place last year. The carrier retained its Five-Star Airline certification for a 14th consecutive year and was named “Best Airline in China.” It also received awards for best staff service and best business class comfort among Chinese airlines.
The Skytrax awards, often called the “Oscars of the aviation industry,” are based on passenger surveys assessing service quality, cabin comfort, and operational performance.
This year’s rankings were drawn from responses collected between September 2024 and May 2025, covering over 325 airlines and representing more than 100 nationalities.
