Sales of electric cars in the UK reached new heights last year, but are still well behind the target set by the authorities.
With a record 382,000 electric cars sold, they accounted for 19.3 percent – almost a fifth – of UK new car sales last year, according to figures from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT). The government’s target for car manufacturers was for 22 percent to be electric.
