Riga Airport Becomes First Climate‑Neutral Hub in the Baltics

Riga Airport says it achieved climate‑neutral status in 2025, becoming the first airport in the Baltic region to offset all of its direct CO₂ emissions.

CEO Laila Odina said the airport also improved its standing in international customer‑experience accreditation last year.

Passenger traffic totaled just over 7.1 million in 2025, essentially unchanged from 2024. London and the Nordic capitals — Helsinki, Oslo and Stockholm — remained among the most popular destinations, alongside Vilnius, Tallinn, Frankfurt, Amsterdam, Copenhagen and Istanbul.

Air cargo activity rose 7 percent to 20,100 tons, supported by new operations from Fly Khiva and Lufthansa Cargo.

Latvia’s flag carrier airBaltic maintained its dominant position at the airport with a 57.2 percent market share, followed by Ryanair at 22.8 percent.
