Roadworks to Affect Highways and Urban Routes Across Cyprus

A series of roadworks and maintenance projects will affect major highways and urban routes across Cyprus in the coming days and weeks, according to police and public‑works authorities.

Larnaca District – Highways

Maintenance of safety barriers will take place on sections of the Larnaca–Ayia Napa, Larnaca–Nicosia and Larnaca–Kofinou motorways from Feb. 2–13, daily between 8:30 a.m. and 3 p.m., excluding weekends. The left lane will close in 200‑meter segments, with traffic diverted to the adjacent lane.

On Feb. 11 and Feb. 13, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., crews will clean storm‑water drains near the Aradippou Industrial Area exit on the Larnaca Airport–Dhekelia–Paralimni route. The exit toward Dhekelia and Paralimni will be closed, with traffic rerouted via the western Aradippou exit.

On Feb. 10, from 8 p.m. to 5:30 a.m., periodic resurfacing will take place at the Kalo Chorio roundabout exit on the Larnaca Airport–Paralimni motorway. Drivers from Rizoelia heading to Larnaca are advised to use either the previous exit via Ellados Avenue or the next exit at the airport interchange. Traffic on the main motorway will remain unaffected.

Limassol–Nicosia Motorway (A1)

From Feb. 9–12, between 8 p.m. and 5:30 a.m., road‑marking works will be carried out on the A1 toward Limassol. One lane will close in 500‑meter sections, with traffic diverted to the remaining lane.

Nicosia Perimeter Motorway

Beginning Oct. 13, 2025, and lasting approximately six months, two northbound lanes toward Anthoupolis government housing estates will remain closed over a 350‑meter stretch as part of Phase B3 of the Perimeter Motorway project. Traffic to and from Anthoupolis will be routed via Agiou Georgiou Avenue and Orthodoxias Street. Access to Andromedas Street will operate on the two southbound lanes in both directions.

Nicosia Urban Works

In Nicosia and Aglantzia, improvement works on Ammochostou Avenue continue as part of a 24‑month project that began Feb. 20, 2025. The works cover 1.7 km of Ammochostou Avenue and 0.8 km of secondary streets including Kalavryton, Pafou, Madaris and Semelis. Completion is expected by Feb. 22, 2027.

Limassol District

Tree‑cutting works by the Forestry Department will take place on the Trimiklini–Platres road near Pera Pedi from Feb. 9–20, excluding weekends, between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. One lane will close in 100‑meter sections, with alternating traffic controlled by a “STOP & GO” system.

Larnaca District – Coastal Road

As part of Phase C of the Larnaca–Dhekelia coastal‑road upgrade, the final stage of works will run from Dec. 19, 2025, for four months. The road will be closed in both directions from the Oroklini Organized Beach kiosk to the Pyla junction, with traffic diverted through Galaxia, Salaminos, Selinis and Okeanias streets in Oroklini, and Ithakis Street in Pyla. Access for residents and businesses will be maintained.

From Feb. 2–Mar. 15, 2026, construction of pavements, crossings, cycle paths and landscaping will take place on the northern service road of Spyrou Kyprianou Avenue near the Larnaca Port roundabout. The service road will close, with traffic diverted through adjacent streets. Temporary traffic changes include lifting or reversing one‑way restrictions on several connecting roads.

In Oroklini, from Feb. 9–12, horizontal road‑marking works will be carried out on all four lanes of the Larnaca–Dhekelia coastal road between the Athens Street roundabout and the Fire Station roundabout. One direction will close at a time over 400‑meter sections, with traffic diverted through Athens, Olymbou and Bella Pais streets. From Feb. 13–17, marking works will continue on the service roads, with restrictions on Navarinou Street (Livadia), Mesopotamias and Mesogeiou streets (Oroklini).

Paphos District

A section of Archbishop Makarios III Avenue in Paphos and Geroskipou (Konia area) will remain closed for approximately three months starting Jan. 29, 2026, as part of a major upgrade project. The northbound lane will be closed from Achepans Street to Thasou Street. Thasou Street will remain open; Achepans Street will operate partially, with limited access on the downhill lane reserved for ambulances. Access to Konia and surrounding areas will be available only via the motorway exit to Konia.
