Russia’s National Antiterrorism Committee said Tuesday it prevented 374 terrorism-related crimes this year, including 273 attempted attacks.
The committee reported that 24 militants and accomplices were killed and more than 2,000 suspects detained. Authorities also froze more than 5,500 accounts linked to terrorist financing, worth about 490 million rubles ($6.4 million).
Officials said more than 37,000 terrorism-related materials were removed from the internet to curb radical ideas. Additional measures are being taken to secure critical facilities against potential attacks, the committee added.
