Seven arrests as part of ongoing crime‑prevention operations

Police carried out overnight targeted patrols across Cyprus, making seven arrests as part of ongoing crime‑prevention operations.

Authorities said the arrests involved several offenses, including drug possession, possession of offensive weapons and illegal stay in the Republic.

During the operations, officers stopped 345 vehicles and checked 146 people. They also inspected 31 premises, issuing three citations for various violations.

Traffic checks resulted in 170 citations, including 71 for speeding. Police conducted 69 breath tests, reporting three drivers for driving under the influence of alcohol. One driver tested positive in a preliminary drug test.

Police say the intensified patrols and checks will continue daily to prevent crime, protect the public and maintain order.
