The British bases at Akrotiri were placed on alert again at midday Monday, with sirens sounding and fighter jets taking off, Cyprus Radio reported.
The alarm was triggered at 12:00 p.m., followed by the launch of three Royal Air Force combat aircraft. Vehicles were seen leaving the base as authorities ordered an evacuation of the facilities.
There was no immediate information from British officials on whether the evacuation was precautionary or linked to a specific threat.
