FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE – As President Donald Trump approaches the 100-day milestone of his second term on April 30, his approval rating has dropped to 39%, the lowest for any U.S. president at this point in office over the past 80 years, according to a poll conducted by ABC News, The Washington Post, and Ipsos.

The survey, conducted from April 18 to 22 among 2,464 American adults, revealed widespread dissatisfaction with Trump’s policies and concerns about the U.S. economy.

The margin of error is plus or minus two percentage points.

The poll found that 55% of respondents disapprove of Trump’s performance, surpassing his previous record low of 42% during his first term in 2017. Key findings include:

  • Tariffs and Inflation: 64% disapprove of Trump’s tariff policies, with 71% believing they will worsen inflation.
  • Economic Concerns: 73% view the U.S. economy as poor, 53% say it has deteriorated since Trump took office, and 72% fear his policies may trigger a recession.
  • Rule of Law: 62% believe the administration does not respect the rule of law, while 65% think it has circumvented federal court rulings.
  • Presidential Powers: 64% criticize the overexpansion of presidential powers.

The poll also highlighted broader political discontent, with 30% of respondents expressing distrust toward both major parties. The findings underscore challenges facing Trump’s administration as it navigates economic and political turbulence.
