Four European broadcasters will withdraw from the 2026 Eurovision Song Contest in Vienna after organizers refused to bar Israel over its military actions in Gaza.
Spain’s RTVE, Dutch AVROTROS, Ireland’s RTE and Slovenia’s RTVSLO announced they will not compete in the May 16 event. Iceland said it will decide next week.
The European Broadcasting Union confirmed Israel’s entry after a meeting in Geneva, rejecting calls for a vote. Austria, the host nation, backed the decision, while Germany warned it could quit if Israel were banned.
Eurovision, founded in 1956, is one of the world’s longest‑running televised events.
