Cyprus — A seasonal low-pressure system is affecting the region, bringing significantly strengthened northerly winds to the island, which are expected to gradually weaken starting Saturday.

Friday’s forecast calls for mostly clear skies with occasional patches of increased cloud cover. Winds will blow predominantly from the north to northeast, ranging from moderate to strong at 4 to 5 on the Beaufort scale. In some areas, winds may intensify to very strong levels, reaching 5 to 6 Beaufort, and temporarily up to gale force — 6 to 7 Beaufort — along eastern coastal zones. Wind intensity is expected to ease slightly by late afternoon.

Sea conditions will be rough to very rough in the north and east, and moderately rough in the west and south. Temperatures will reach approximately 30°C inland and along the eastern, western, and southwestern coasts, climbing to 33°C in the north and southeastern coastal areas. Mountainous regions will see cooler conditions, with highs around 21°C.

Tonight, skies will remain mostly clear. Winds will shift to blow from the northwest to northeast, ranging from light to moderate (3 to 4 Beaufort) in the western half of the island, and moderate to strong (4 to 5 Beaufort) in the east. Seas will be generally slightly to moderately rough. Overnight temperatures are expected to drop to around 21°C inland, 22°C along the coast, and 13°C in higher elevations.

Looking ahead to Sunday and Monday, weather conditions are expected to remain generally clear. Temperatures will gradually rise through Monday, reaching slightly above seasonal averages.
