The Troodos Observatory will host a special event tonight to observe a total lunar eclipse that will be fully visible from Cyprus.

The moon is expected to rise at 6:59 p.m. local time, already in the penumbral phase of the eclipse, which is barely visible to the naked eye. A partial eclipse will begin at 7:28 p.m., when the moon starts to enter Earth’s shadow.

Totality will begin at 8:30 p.m., with the moon fully covered by Earth’s shadow and taking on a reddish hue. The eclipse will reach its peak at 9:12 p.m., with the moon positioned 24 degrees above the eastern horizon.

The moon will begin to exit the shadow at 9:52 p.m., and the penumbral phase will end at 11:55 p.m., when the moon is 47 degrees above the southeastern horizon.
