A total of 2,477 traffic violations were detected and reported during traffic checks carried out by police across Cyprus from February 17 to 23, 2025.
Police officers issued 881 complaints for exceeding the speed limit, 130 for failure to use seat belts, 10 for failure to use protective helmets, and 156 for using mobile phones while driving. Additionally, 36 complaints were filed for driving under the influence of alcohol, 53 for illegal parking, 28 for parking in disabled spaces, and 1,173 for other traffic offenses.
During these traffic checks, 14 drivers tested positive for drugs, and authorities seized 70 cars and 14 two-wheeled vehicles.
Traffic police checks continue daily to prevent fatal and serious collisions and promote proper road awareness among all road users.
