Trump fires US defense chief Brown

US President Donald Trump announced last night that he is firing the country’s Chief of Defence Staff, Charles Q. Brown. Brown has held the position of Chief of Defence Staff for 16 months.

Brown’s dismissal is expected to send shockwaves through the Pentagon, writes the AP news agency.

‘I would like to thank General Charles “CQ” Brown for his over 40 years of service to our country, including as our current Chief of Staff. He is a fine gentleman and an outstanding leader, and I wish him and his family a great future,’ writes Trump.

Trump will nominate Air Force Lieutenant General Dan Caine to be the country’s next chief of defense, Trump writes on the Truth Social platform.
