U.S. President Donald Trump has invited Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides and Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis to participate once again in the World Peace Council, Fileleftheros reported.
According to the paper, Trump has extended a new invitation for the two leaders to attend a meeting in Washington, with initial reactions described as positive. The session, scheduled for February 19 at the Donald Trump Peace Institute, is expected to focus on the reconstruction of Gaza. Cyprus and Greece have been asked to respond by Wednesday on whether they will participate.
The report notes that the planned global meeting on Gaza was first revealed by the news site Axios, which said the gathering aims to raise funds for reconstruction efforts. Citing Hellas Journal, the paper said Trump’s invitation to Christodoulides and Mitsotakis has been confirmed.
Both leaders had also been invited to Trump’s earlier event in Davos, where he announced the establishment of the “Peace Council.”
In addition to Cyprus and Greece, invitations were reportedly sent to Spain, Germany, Italy, France, Bulgaria, Hungary, Sweden, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Morocco, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, Indonesia, Jordan, Pakistan, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, Turkey, South Korea, Japan, Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kosovo, India, Australia, Belarus and Norway.
