US President Donald Trump is immediately revoking Joe Biden’s security clearance and halting the former president’s daily intelligence briefings.
“It is not necessary for Joe Biden to continue to receive access to classified information,” Trump wrote, justifying the decision, among other things, by saying that Joe Biden ‘suffers from a poor memory’ and that ‘he cannot be trusted with sensitive information’.
In the US, there is a tradition that former presidents continue to receive intelligence briefings after they leave office. But during Biden’s presidency, he also instructed the intelligence community to prevent Trump from accessing details about the US security situation.
