FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE – President Donald Trump announced Sunday a trade agreement with the European Union, calling it “the biggest deal ever” between the two sides.
Following talks with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen in Scotland, the deal sets a 15% tariff on most EU exports to the U.S., while maintaining a 50% duty on steel and aluminum.
In return, the EU committed to purchasing $150 billion in American energy and investing $600 billion in U.S. strategic sectors.
Von der Leyen said the agreement would “bring stability” to transatlantic relations, ending months of tension over threatened 30% blanket tariffs.
